Unfortunately a lot of hotels fall into the process of sending their first emails, after someone hits the book now button. This is exactly what you DON'T want to do.

Steps for Successful Email Marketing:
The first thing you want to do is be proactive with your email marketing. You want to leverage the content you have on your site to gather valuable information about your guests so you can become an adviser and lead them to the point of booking their room at your hotel.

The second thing you want to do, is build a smart database. By taking this proactive approach, you can use data to create a database full of guests that you can send contextual emails. This will let them know exactly what to expect when they arrive at your hotel, and you will give them a sneak peak into the experience they'll have.

From the smart database, you can send very personalized emails. Email is the most personalized marketing channel, and you can directly communicate specifics that are otherwise inappropriate to display on your website or blog.

Next you want to build excitement. This takes place after they've booked their stay. This is where you send them everything they need to be prepared for their stay and get them stoked! Make them feel at home before they leave theirs.

The last thing you want to do is enhance their stay while they're at your hotel. 9 out of 10 travelers expect and would prefer that the travel provider sends them relevant information about their stay. This could include popular things to do, local attractions, anything that would make their stay a one of a kind experience they'll never forget.
